Dr Stobie is a local graduate of the University of Western Australia. After completing fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology at world leading centres in North America, he returned to join the Western Cardiology team in 2003. Dr Stobie was recruited to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital that same year and continues to provide his services to the community at SCGH, St John of God Hospital Subiaco and a number of the Western Cardiology suburban branch locations.

In addition to general cardiology, Dr Stobie specialises in all aspects of cardiac arrhythmia management including:

  • Diagnostic services – ECG, holter monitoring, event monitoring, personal device oversight
  • Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias
  • Cardiac device therapy.
  • Syncope
  • Optimisation of anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation

Dr Stobie participates actively in fund raising events for charity and has been a keen runner, participating in the New York Marathon and Great Wall of China Marathon. In the community he coaches Junior Basketball.

Acknowledged as a leader among his peers, Dr Stobie held the position of Head of Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for close to 5 years. He brings this experience and more than 20 years clinical experience to his new role as Chairperson of Western Cardiology.
